Freezing Vibration is a new series, it is a somewhat successor to the cult anime series Freezing. It is much darker than Freezing and overall a better more solid series. Essentially Satellizer, Kazuya and Rana are en-route to a Chevalier base in Alaska when they are called for help to defend an oil field from a Type-S Nova. This project aims to make young women who aren't genetically compatible with Stigmata into Pandoras; At the Alaskan base where the world's top Pandoras have gathered, Chiffon introduces the others to Roxanne Elipton, Charles Bonaparte and Julia Munberk, the top Pandoras of Genetics America, France and Germany respectively. Together with Cassie and Chiffon, the five of them are the top five Pandoras of their generation. After the girls try on their new uniforms, Scarlett explains why she gathered the Pandoras: the plan is to collect data to help the E-Pandora Project. When Roxanne comments Scarlett may have performed human experiments before the E-Pandora Project was approved, she is angrily confronted by a trio of E-Pandoras. The series has a post punk feel, with the Pandoras representing a creation of mans desires and destruction to kill. There is no one protagonist to this series, although it can argued Satellizer L. Bridget is the main heroine of the series and one of the strongest Pandoras in West Genetics. She was formerly ranked the number one second-year Pandora before being demoted to the 2nd rank due to Kazuya's interference during the ongoing Carnival tournament. Known as the Untouchable Queen because of her intense aphephobia, she is feared by the students for her cold and ruthless personality. It is revealed that she transferred to West Genetics from East Genetics after brutally injuring Levon Brooks, a Limiter with a playboy personality who wanted her to become his Pandora. However, Louis' mistreatment later turned into sexual abuse and Satellizer was forced to endure it as her mother was terminally ill and did not want their family situation to worsen. Following her mother's death, Satellizer became a Pandora on the orders of her father. The series does delve into this sexual content thus why it has received an R 18+ rating, it does get very dark at times . Due to the abuse she suffered she hates being touched and goes berserk if anyone touches her; Later a mock battle is held between the Genetics Pandoras and E-Pandoras to test their strengths. but Amelia cheers up her comrades by telling them they will defeat the Genetics Pandoras, who they consider haughty elites due to their coming from rich families, while they themselves came from worse backgrounds. Having said that the series is quite humorous at times, with little jokes here and there. The next day at lunch, Amelia, Gina and Rattle are surprised to find Elizabeth having lunch with them. Elizabeth assures the E-Pandoras that they only lost because the Genetics Pandoras had longer training and experience than them; she and the other Genetics Pandoras will help them to become as strong as the Genetics Pandoras. Meanwhile, Secretary Marks Spencer orders Scarlett to administer the "Mark IV" drug to the E-Pandoras despite her opposition. Scarlett reveals the Mark IV proposition to the E-Pandoras and Genetics Pandoras, explaining it to be a nano-machine infusion containing Genetics Pandora data to enhance the E-Pandoras' compatibility with their Stigmata. Afterwards, the Genetics Pandoras discuss the timing of this use of Mark IV and its viability. The violence really begins to show when the battles in the series take place. Usually brutally faced paced with no remorse, especially in training. While Satellizer and Rana train competitively, Amelia meets with Scarlett to discuss her concerns about the use of Mark IV; Back in training, Satellizer manages to prevent a confrontation between Rana and Gina over Rattle's eating habits. Amelia confronts Gina about volunteering for the Mark IV drug; Later, Gina thanks Satellizer and reveals that it's Satellizer's data she'll be using; Desiring to see Amelia and Rattle again, Gina breaks free of the lab while Spencer orders the mobilization of selected Genetics Pandoras to stop her. Personally one of my favourite characters would be Roxanne Elipton. Known as the Immortal Roxanne is among the top 5 of the world's strongest Pandora, with the rank of #1. As revealed during the 12th Nova Clash, Roxanne was a member and the focus of Project Fairchild Buster, a clandestine American initiative which goal was to create a Pandora capable of overcoming Japan's Chiffon Fairchild. It creates a world of its own, entrancing you in its world. As the series progresses Satellizer departs as she remembers the match with Gina; Elizabeth visits Satellizer after being turned away by Dr. O'Hara while investigating and warns her to stay away. Overall this is a very unusual series, it is highly entertaining never the less. The highly sexualised imagery alone makes it a curious watch, then place in a backdrop or a surprisingly good story and you one a solid anime series. Recommended; however with a warning to lighter anime viewers in regards to the dark sexual abuse aspect of the series. Overall: 4/5

Nisekoi False Love is a new Anime series that presents itself as a romantic comedy, yes that is true to a degree but this series is actually quite funny and have an interesting array of charters. Raku Ichijō , the son of a Yakuza boss, wishes to live an ordinary life and become a public servant. Raku realizes he has lost his locket that contains memories of his first love, because of the collision, and asks Chitoge to help look for it. After several days their relationship gets worse that Raku tells Chitoge to stop looking. Afterwards, Raku's father tells Raku that he is to be in a fake dating relationship with a girl from a rival gang in order for their gangs to make peace, but the girl turns out to be Chitoge. Raku Ichijō presents himself to be quite civilized and highly altruistic, except when he encounters a person with a lack of respect or regard for him or others around him. During the date, Chitoge tells Raku to get her a soda but as he leaves, gangsters try to flirt with her and make her come with them. At the bathroom, Chitoge overhears a Yakuza member saying that he isn't convinced that Raku and Chitoge are really in a relationship, so Chitoge decides to amp up the act however, when she returns, Raku and Chitoge encounter with Kosaki which causes difficulty for Raku to tell her about them "dating". Chitoge ends up telling her the that their dating but gets mad at Raku almost spilling the truth and leaves. Kosaki answers no and leaves but as she gets home, she is shown to have a key and regrets telling Raku that she has seen his locket before. For example, when Raku lost his pendant once again from the chain being broken, Chitoge had secretly gotten the Beehive gang to help fix it for him and gave it back later that night. This is when the series has elements of suspense, leaving you wondering what is coming up next in the storyline. She's somewhat oblivious when it comes to love and others' love interests, like how she didn't know what Tsugumi's "symptoms" were, which was actually love. Throughout the series, it is noted that she is a very bad cook due to the fact that she never measures ingredients and adds random things to the dish that she thinks will make the dish taste better. Raku also noted that she felt more womanly as Chitoge was meek and quite happy when he tried to buy a replacement ribbon for her and when she hugged him for finding her actual ribbon, but all in all, prefers her usual self better. It should be noted that she treasured the ribbon for two key reasons: first, because her mother gave it to her, and second, because Raku told her when they were young that it would look good on her. The characters begin to develop at quite a rapid rate, also the pacing is appropriately spaced out. Raku and Chitoge experience difficulty in putting up their fake relationship act after their first date, and since Kosaki met them at the park for their date, she spread word about them dating to their classmates. They try telling their classmates that their relationship is fake but Chitoge's bodyguard, Claude, watches over them to check if Raku and Chitoge are actually dating. This gives Raku a hard time to tell Kosaki the misunderstanding of his relationship with Chitoge. This is when the series becomes awkwardly funny. Chitoge becomes furious at first but willingly accepts Raku's offer to help her make the notebook because he used to make one too when he had trouble making friends. Overall a quirky and unusual series, it is funny and keeps going at a great pace. It does stand out of the flood romantic anime series dues to the chapters and Yakuza idea. Overall check it out. Dog and Scissors is a highly original and overall surreal anime series. Kazuhito Harumi is the main male protagonist, and was a book-loving third year middle school student until he got killed by a robber gunman while protecting a young woman at a cafe. As a dog, Kazuhito is bought by a sadistic scissor-wielding woman named Kirihime Natsuno who tells him that she has the ability to read his thoughts. Soon, Kazuhito discovers that his new owner, Kirihime, is in fact Shinobu Akiyama - his favorite best-selling author, as well as the woman he risked his life to protect at the cafe. Before turning into a dog, Kazuhito was polite and would get overly enthousiastic about books. Not being able to read a book after a week, Harumi is later adopted by a mysterious girl named Kirihime Natsuno, which Kazuhito later discovers as the costumer he protected during the robbery and the real name of Shinobu Akiyama. While under Kirihime's care, Kazuhito came to know of Kirihime's sadistic side and at the same time her positive traits, as well as being a martial artist. After contacting someone asking for Kazuhito's wallet and address, Kirihime, who along with Kazuhito heads to the latter's former apartment. A girl with long black hair who has a passion for writing and best known as Akiyama Shinobu, she first met Kazuhito before he died while he protected her from a robber. Kirihime Natsuno is the main female protagonist, a best-selling author under the pen-name Shinobu Akiyama , and the owner of Kazuhito Harumi after he was reborn as a dachshund dog. She first met him when they where sitting in a café. After being teased of wearing a pet collar and scaring and ignoring passersby respectively, Kirihime and Kazuhito arrive at the latter's former apartment. Kirihime deduced that the man who killed Kazuhito is currently hiding at the latter's own apartment. The latter is proven true and consequently Kirihime and Kazuhito give chase to Kazuhito's killer until they reach a skyway where the killer reveals to have read all of Kirihime's books which lead him to become its fanatic. After a farce, the killer was on the verge of falling to his death where Kirihime tells Kazuhito to exact his revenge to his killer. However, Kazuhito pulls the man down - saving him, stating that he won't kill him since he is also a book lover and if otherwise would result only to tarnishing Kazuhito's way of ever reading again. Kirihime however, is against this as she felt guilty for being the reason of Kazuhito's death. As Kazuhito consoles Kirihime by telling her that he is aware of Kirihime's true self after reading her books, Kirihime breaks into tears. Afterwards, Kirihime began to harbor feelings for Kazuhito. Waking up from a nightmare, Kazuhito meets Kirihime's masochistic editor, Suzuna Hiiragi, who tells Kirihime of a slasher currently on the loose. After tormenting Kazuhito for realizing him to be the reason for her writer's block, Kirihime learns more of the slasher incidents from Suzuna and decided to conduct an investigation regarding it, despite her sister's opposition. As Kirihime chases the pressumed slasher, Kazuhito gets caught in a trap. No extras on the disc, but the fact that Madman has introduced us to this quirky series is good enough. Overall:3.5/5 |
